Congratulations to the brave group of cyclists from Southern Business School (and our guest Mr. Johann Visser) who took on the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge – and finished it!

The days have passed where Higher Education Institutions could only focus on teaching and learning activities. Research and research outputs contribute considerably to the overall development of nations. Developed nations acknowledge and emphasise the importance of research more than their less developed counterparts and therefore produce the bulk of new knowledge internationally.

Froneman (2002)¹ describes a South African higher education system under pressure to improve present educational quality, while simultaneously expanding access opportunities in an effort to bring higher education to the masses.

Southern Business School won gold in the Education category of the FNB/ROCCi Business of the Year Awards held on Saturday 5 November 2011.
