Upcoming Policing Conference: SAVE THE DATE!


Southern Business School is proud to host an International Policing Conference and encourage all members in the policing/safety in society sector, academics and working professionals alike, to contribute to the dialogue on crime and criminal justice in Africa and internationally. The conference provides a great opportunity for scholars and practitioners to network and to share their research, findings, experience or theories on whether policing agencies should be managed as a business.

The conference theme, The Business of Policing: An International Perspective on Crime and Criminal Justice, provides opportunities for broad perspectives, and we look forward to receiving diverse abstracts that explores the main theme as it relates to one of the subfields: Policing, Crime and Criminology | Corrections and Law | Traffic

All submissions should follow the abstract guidelines provided below and submit using the Abstract Submission Form. Please forward all abstracts to using the following subject line: Abstract _ Policing Conference 2017.
All submissions should address the conference theme and chosen sub-theme. Abstracts should provide a thorough overview of your paper and follow a logical order which includes (if applicable) the following:
  • Introduction or problem statement
  • Theoretical framework
  • Methodology or approach
  • Results or major findings
  • Conclusion or implications
  • References
Please use the provided Abstract Submission Form to ensure conformity of structure. The form structures abstracts as follows:
Title page:
  • Title of paper,
  • Sub-theme,
  • Paper type,
  • Opt to write a full paper for publication,
  • Author(s) name,
  • Author contact details, and
  • Affiliated institution.
Abstract page:
  • Title of paper centred in font type Calibri, Bold, and 24pt font.
  • Sub-theme centred in font type Calibri and 18pt font.
  • Body of abstract justified in font type Calibri, 12pt font, and 1.5 spacing.
  • Abstract word count of at least 250 words is required.
Abstracts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format and contain both the title page and abstract page (as indicated above) in one single document. Please note, no scanned or PDF documents will be accepted.
Delegates interested in presenting Interactive Posters, may submit an abstract following the guidelines above. Upon acceptance of abstract, guidelines will be shared for creating a digital poster. For more information, please contact
